After graduating from The Aveda Institute Chapel Hill, I found a home at Rock Paper Scissors Salon; a beautiful, community-focused space in Durham, NC where I assisted under Jenean Eberhardt & Laura Butler. These bad-ass beauty babes taught me the value of a great haircut and, more importantly, how to give back through our craft.

My husband and I moved to San Francisco in 2015. Seeing this as an opportunity to experience another facet of the beauty industry, I jumped into education and joined the teaching staff at Cinta Aveda Institute in downtown SF. I spent 2 years at the Institute serving as a cosmetology/barbering educator and certified Color Coach.

I found myself really missing the connection that I had with clients, so I began searching for a new salon home and I joined the staff of Atelier Emmanuel Salon in late 2017. While at AE, I honed my talents in classic hairdressing, education development and mentorship until its sale in 2022.

Knowing it was time to set out on my own path, I opened Sanctuary in early 2024 and it has been the best career decision I have ever made. I thoroughly enjoy my role as salon owner and look forward to going to work every single day.

My chair is a safe space for people of all genders and I specialize in effortless, lived in haircuts accentuated with natural, easy to manage hair color (with a side of the fun stuff!)

My passions are curls and color. As a curly girl myself, I know how important our hair is as a form of self expression. I make it my priority to give you the hair of your dreams while teaching you the best ways to maintain your hair at home. I want you feeling beautiful everyday, not just on the days you were in my chair. I specialize in blonding, balayage, creative color, curly cuts, and extensions.

Shane is a highly skilled hair stylist originally from Ireland, with over a decade of experience in the industry. He relocated to San Francisco from Cork City in 2019, bringing his expertise and passion for hair styling to a new audience. Shane takes great joy in creating beautiful hairstyles and seeing the smiles on his clients' faces after each service. He excels in using various coloring and cutting techniques to bring his clients' hair dreams to life. Shane is a certified L’oreal color specialist and specializes in K-tip extensions. He is committed to continuous learning and stays updated on the latest and most innovative hair styling techniques.

My hair journey spans over 20 years now but my passion for the craft is just as vibrant as day one! I specialize in low maintenance, lived in, dimensional colors but my work speaks for itself... I really love to do a bit of everything!

Ali Moss is in ENTHUSIASTIC LOVE with joy, hair, customer service, and YOU. She wants you to feel the same way about your own hair, and sees it as an integral part of mental health. She specializes in low-maintenance looks to help make this happen - and stay that way after you leave. She especially loves cuts and coloring, as well as texture services and special occasion styling. She works with men, women, and genderqueer folk, and sees haircuts as important gender-affirming care for everyone. Whether perfectly groomed for a GQ cover, or wilding out for your goth-punk show, Ali wants to give people a look they are in love with.

Ali is a professionally licensed barber, and spent her first six years of hair styling in Baltimore, MD with Paul Mitchell, Goldwell, Aquage, and salon laurie & co (under Master Stylist Laurie Schroeder). She then taught at The San Francisco Institute, and continues to share her love for learning with young professionals as well as clients. She currently cuts at Peter Thomas Salon in Berkeley as well as Sanctuary Salon in San Francisco on a more limited schedule. Please be on time when scheduling an appointment.

Liz, a native of Los Angeles, has always had a flair for fashion design, often sketching hair styles she envisioned for herself to share with her stylist. Her fascination with hair blossomed over the years, leading her to pursue her education at the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology, where she financed her studies through hard work.

With three years of experience in high-end salons, Liz has honed her skills in both hair cutting and coloring. Her true passion lies in building connections with her clients, helping them achieve their desired hair goals. Renowned for her attentive listening skills, Liz creates an enjoyable and engaging experience for everyone in her chair. Beyond her expertise in hair, she delights in conversations about food and dogs, possessing the gift of gab that makes her a joy to be around.

I’m a native Mexican but have lived most of my life now in the Bay Area. I’m fluent in English and Spanish. I’ve been in the beauty industry for 5 years. I love grey blending, vivids, dimensional color, color blocks, classic haircuts, shags and butterfly haircuts along with curly and wavy hair. I’m very proud to be working now at Santuary Salon. FYI: I used to chop my hair as a kid and had green hair not so long ago. I was MEANT to be a hairdresser, haha. Come as you are, I’d love to meet you.

Hi, my name is Marah! I’m a proud Mexicana born and raised in Oakland (Si hablo español)! I graduated from Laney College’s cosmetology program in 2022. I have a love for all things beauty and fashion, but my biggest passion is haircolor! From blonding to vivids, I’m obsessed with it all! Although new to San Francisco, I have prior salon training in both Berkeley and Concord. I’m beyond excited to join the team at Sanctuary Salon and cannot wait to create magic in this space!
